Course

as per

ASME Sec VIII Div 2, Part 5

An
ASME Oriented Specialist Course

This course is intended for learners focused in the field of Static Equipment Design. We introduce the ASME Design by Analysis approach with hands-on examples.

ASME SEC VIII DIV 2 PART 5, DESIGN BY ANALYSIS COURSE

Professional Course in CAE

An advance level course in CAE focused on the applications of ASME Sec VIII Div 2, Part 5 methods with respect to static equipment design.

Designers who are already working with Div 1 code will benefit greatly by understanding the implications of the design by analysis approach.

Recent engineering graduates who intend to pursue a career in pressure vessel design consultancies in Mumbai or in Gulf countries will get a bright exposure to the CAE techniques covered in this course.

Introduction

ASME Section VIII, Division 2, Part 5 provides a methodical approach to determine adequacy of static equipment and pressure vessel component design.

This course provides detailed rules for performing analysis. These analysis are to be conducted in a CAE tool like ANSYS.

The underlying philosophy of this code is to provide protection against failure modes. For every failure mode, an analyst is presented with various methodological possibilities of the analysis.

The competency of the engineer is tested in both ways, selecting an appropriate technique and performing the analysis adhering to the guidelines of the code.

Such Engineering professional requires deep understanding of CAE to ensure adherence to the code.

Course Curriculum

Linear and Non-linear Structural Analysis with industrial project.

Thermal-Structural Coupled Analysis and Fatigue Analysis.

ASME Sec VII Div 2, Part 5 Examples and Assignments

WHo Should ENROLL

Professionals currently working with the ASME Div 1 code, and who intend to incorporate Div 2, ‘design by analysis’ approach in Static Equipment Design.

Aspiring mechanical/civil engineers seeking admission for Master’s degree in European and US universities.

Learning Outcomes

Comfortably tackle an APDL workflow of generating a model, meshing, solving and post-processing.

Develop an In-depth understanding of 1-D and 2-D analysis in APDL

Get a hands-on experience of working with ANSYS workbench.

Understand mesh convergence, and efficient ways of handling stress singularities.

Comprehend ASME code requirements and execution in CAE.

Undergo rigorous training on Part 5 requirements and execute two full size industrial projects in static equipment design.
